About our activity sessions
We deliver fun and interactive activity sessions designed to increase the happiness and the health of older people in care
Our sessions improve wellbeing and increase social interaction among residents and staff, improving relationships within the home and creating a sense of community.
Drawing on Life Story Work, Cognitive Stimulation Therapy and our own innovative techniques for engaging with people, our sessions include: guided reminiscence, music, poetry, history, storytelling, energising movement and dance, yoga, tai-chi, creative art, digital storytelling using iPads and social and therapeutic horticulture.
Alive put older people’s involvement and choice at the centre of the sessions, allowing participants to shape the activities and reconnect to the things that bring them joy.
Staff mentioned that Alive sessions have an 'after effect' in that participants will remember song lyrics for days after, and that physical issues such as coughing reduces.
I haven’t got an activities budget as such, but if I did, I would quite willingly spend the whole lot on Alive. Care home manager
